    and Diaspora Issues

The Centre for Mixed Migration and Diaspora Studies (CeMMiDS) is a product of many years of migration and refugee research in the Department of Population and Health, University of Cape Coast. The idea of having a centre of this kind was also fuelled by the lack of a focal institution/centre with a mandate to coordinate research on forced migration issues within the West Africa subregion.

Within the broader scheme of things, the restructuring of the Faculty of Social Sciences offered us the opportunity, coupled with the desire of the current Vice Chancellor of the University (Professor Johnson Nyarko Boampong) for a specialised research centre to focus on the topical issues of human mobility.
